This is an interesting variety of what I've hear so far. Totally understandable, and I can particularly relate insofar as what I really want to read I need to write myself, since I seem to have a quite eclectic choice of preferences.
I'm also sometimes seeking out certain fics close to what I'm planning to write or working at for various reasons, but that'd always be in the planning or editing stage, not during the time when I'm doing the main storytelling.
