Write every day! - December 2020 - Day 1

Welcome everybody to another round of WED! I hope you've all survived this crazy year as well as possible until now, and also not done too badly writing-wise. To all those who tackled NaNoWriMo and similar writing challenges, congratulations for participating, keeping strong, fighting the empty pages and of course winning!

Please don't hesitate to ask [personal profile] sylvanwitch or [personal profile] ysilme any questions you have.

Tally for January 2020:
Welcome Post

Let us know if we missed you or if you didn't check in for a while, so we can add you. Of course joining the fun is possible at any point.

[personal profile] ysilme here: Please excuse me for sticking to the technical barebones so far; I've had an extremely draining family situation yesterday, a horrible night, and resolving but even more draining events today. I'll write about my writing goals and plans in a day or so, but today I'll leave the field for [personal profile] sylvanwitch. I'm looking forward to host again and talk to you, after having made myself so rare these last months.

[personal profile] sylvanwitch here: Welcome one and all! I'm so glad we're sharing this month with you, and I'm very much looking forward to hearing about your writing projects.  My plan for December is to finish the novel I've been working on for months.    I'm at 106.5K words on it now, and I'm hoping to finish the first draft by the end of 2020.  Generally, I shoot for 500 words/day, but to make it to the end before the year's done, I'll need to do at least 800 words/day, so that's my goal.

Hi and thanks for hosting! : )

My goals for this month are: 1) picking up my Yuletide draft that I finished two weeks ago, looking at it with new eyes, and revising and finishing it as needed, and 2) getting my poly fic to 60K.

Wordcount for 1st of December: 400
Total wordcount on poly fic: 48,000

I did not have that much time for writing today, and spent some of the time I did have on researching if/how nipple stimulation during sex feels different if you are breastfeeding. I don't mean as a kink, I just want to know how breastfeeding a baby can change the sensitivity of your nipples. Internet searches did not actually turn up much.

Uh, if you have info on this and don't mind sharing, feel free to weigh in!

*waves* Good to see you both again!

I'm battling on as best I can and so far haven't missed a day. Keeping my fingers crossed for the final month of the year.

Dec 1st - Had to go out today so only managed 700 words, a triple drabble and four drabbles.

[take care of yourselves, hosts ]

[same as most days, im out at work and wasting time with other hobbies, but my wordcount for day 1 was 640, and i guess id be pretty impressed if i could get 15k for the month (what with 2020 and new and useless hobbies occupying my computer time) ]

[everyone who has done writing this year, whether 1k, 100k, all 11 months so far or whatever - youre cool ]

Hello!

This month I've gotta finish a big bang (~2k left, probably), write my yuletide fic, and write my [community profile] swrarepairs fic. Other than that, there's nothing I definitely need to do, so it's much more relaxing than November was. :)

Today I wrote a 1.4k oneshot, which was a lot of fun.

Your goals sound admirable and doable, which is always a nice combination in my experience! Alas, I have no first-hand knowledge of breastfeeding, nor do I know anyone I could ask, but now I'm really interested in the answer. If you happen to discover it and don't mind sharing it here, I'd love to know!

Good luck with your editing, research, and writing! :-)

Hey, 700 words is a great word count, especially for a busy day! We'll do our best to help you feel at home here and encourage you to make your annual goal. I know you've got it in you because I've seen before how amazingly productive you can be.

May the Muse be kind and all the words good ones!

I couldn't agree more about all us writing heroes out here. Seriously, creating ANYTHING in the dumpster fire of 2020 is a heroic act of life-affirmation, if you ask me. (You didn't, but I'm not shy about sharing. Lol!)

I think 640 is an excellent word count, especially as mine has been 500/day forever now, though this month I'm going for 800/day just to reach the end of this first draft. Anyway, if you stick to around that, you'll more than make your month's goal, which is awesome!

Let us know how we can help to encourage you. :-)

Yay for fun writing! I mean, I'm enjoying the novel I'm working on, but I miss fanfiction like the devil sometimes! So, I'm going to live vicariously through your pleasure on this one. :-)

Your goals sound totally doable, and I'm glad they mean less pressure on you than you've had in the past. Here's wishing you joy in all the writing this month!

Thank you! Trying to get used to a new mini laptop is causing me problems. I really hate the new Windows and MS Office, but since my laptop only works occasionally, a replacement was unavoidable and this was the only thing available.

I've actually exceeded my annual goal, so I changed it to a higher one 😉

Hello! Still plodding along with the same thing, here.

Today was unexpectedly productive, with four pages longhand in less than an hour. Always nice to start the month off on the right foot.

Got 466 words in today (12 -1) and signed up for 3 mini allbingo cards. The story I'm working on now is a Cap-IM Christmas treat.

I dropped out of November half-way through so I'm trying to make good on December!

I have a story I've been fighting with for months that I'm trying to finish this month. Currently at 6k words and barely 3/4 finished. Today I realized I've been heading in the wrong direction and failing to write the story points that inspired me in the first place, so no wonder I kept stalling out!

Dec 1: a couple hundred words of outline to refocus myself on the true point of the story.

Oo, [personal profile] sylvanwitch, you're so close to done! I'm so excited for you!

[personal profile] ysilme, that sounds like an awful day, I'm sorry.

My goals: NONE, hooray, hurrah! I met my goals for the year during November, go me! So I'm going to finish off this exchange fic (currently at beta), and then spend the rest of the month noodling away at whatever I feel like. Most likely the Sprawling Monster, although we'll see -- I have several things on the back burner.

Today's check-in: Longhand page at lunch on a new story my chief-troublemaker and I have spent the last couple of days brainstorming. Then some time tonight re-reading the Sprawling Monster, trying to fix in my head where I left off in terms of bridging the disparate parts of the story together. Didn't get so far as to find out, but did a little light editing along the way and rediscovered a number of things I'd completely forgotten about. :-)

I got 1504 on the dark fic and 1684 on the holiday story so not too bad

Hello, thanks for having us!

I did nano this year and wrote 55k, but I'm probably not even halfway through the story. I'm on a streak of alibi sentences because motivation is very low right now, and I'm thinking about giving up on this one and writing something else. However, I'm not quite to giving up yet, so that is where I'll be putting my words for now! I created a new goal on the nano website: 50k more words by February 1st.

Day 1: 340 nano words.

I'm currently working on a WIP from April/May, which I'm trying to finish as a charity WIP. It needs more plot than I'm really comfortable with, which is why I got stuck, but I don't have time to mess around, so... *determined face* :-)

1st: a couple of hundred words.
2nd: a few sentences and some thinking/planning/strategising, plus most of my weekly update post. :-)

I did about 300 words creating some background for my villain.

He's stealth for the first part of the story, so I'm struggling a bit to figure out how the big reveal happens.

Everyone should have a chief troublemaker, I think. *makes note to self to get one* :-)

Yay for words and for having no obligations this month! (I remember how MUCH you usually are doing at one time, so I am imagining this is a delightful break from the crushing norm.)

I enjoy when I re-read something I've been away from and rediscover things I like. I find it's a bit of a boost. I hope you continue to delight in your rediscovery. :-)
