Write every day! - December 2020 - Day 2

Last night it snowed for the first time, so we're having a white winter at least for a bit - snow isn't uncommon in our parts (South west Germany) but rare in December. It's very comfy inside right now, with the fire going, candles burning, humans having chai and spiced apple bread and the felines dozing in their preferred spaces. What is your preferred way of getting cozy when it's cold or the weather is bad? Do you find it easier to write like this, or harder, or doesn't it make a difference?

Tally:

[personal profile] ysilme here: the aforementioned family situation got mostly resovled already yesterday, which I hadn't expected or dared to hope for, and also better than hoped. Which is a good thing something entirely new and health-related came up today with my partner's mother which is stirring things up a bit. So for day 1 all I can report is an alibi sentence (although I spend most of the day writing comments and mails about the family situation, and today I got an alibi sentence in so far, but might not do much more. I definitely wouldn't mind a less "interesting" next year. ;op

[personal profile] sylvanwitch here: It was a long day of trying to prep lessons for online learning and coming up against repeated, work-related interruptions. *sighs* Still, not only did I add 920 words to my novel today, but I also started a new original short story as part of a virtual meeting of the student writers club I moderate. Yay for writing exercises bearing fruit!

Day 2: 1,104 nano words. I went in for an alibi sentence and things happened. :D

Lol! Awesome! I love when that happens. Fantastic word count--the best sort of surprise, I think!

Wow, how cool, great word count! NaNo words, as in continuing your NaNo project? I'm afraid I haven't followed comments last months, as my own NaNo gave me a hard time and RL was a bitch.

Yes, continuing my nano project! I wrote 55k words during November, but I'm likely not even halfway through the story, so I am trying to push on.

In that case, best of luck with finishing it! My first ever NaNo story is a fanfic, or rather transformative fic as tons of worldbuilding is involved. I finished the first draft back then, planned to edit and post it soon, beta discovered plothole you can drive a lorry through. So a later NaNo was spent working at the edit, and another one with the same attempt, both adding to the backstory and content but not the story itself. This year I've taken it on as NaNo project again with the hope and intention to finally push trough my difficult parts and get on with it, and I think I've managed it. I'm not currently working at it due to some emotionally too distractive RL events, but I won't let it out of my grip again. ^^
(My largest problem is that for the background and beginning of the story, canon is more than sparse but also totally contradictionary, and tons of equally contradicting fanon exists. Taming that down to something that works for me was and still is quite something.)

That sounds like a lot to deal with you, but your determination will surely see it through! Good luck. <3
