Welcome to another round of the Write Every Day challenge! Taking over from talkingtothesky, we - that is, sylvanwitch and ysilme, will for the second time host the challenge together in this account created for that purpose.

If you're new to the challenge and want to know what this is about, unsure if you want to join, or are just curious, please check out our introduction entry.

This joint hosting works just like your regular challenge with daily tally entries, except that we'll both put our tallies into the main post. So if you're curious how our respective writing days went, we invite you to check again later or on the next day. :o) 
We don't tag the entries as this journal won't contain anything else but tally entries, so you can just as easily track the journal. You don't need to subscribe, too, as the entries are all public. If any of you would prefer a tag they can track, please let us know!

So this is sylvanwitch  here and happy to be back with you for another great month of WED!  I'm wondering today if you have any writing goals for the glorious month of May.  Are you working on a short-term project or slogging through the weeds on something long?  Have you joined a fest or challenge?  Are you gearing up for a summer/winter of writing?  Whatever you're into, we'd love for you to share your writing stories here.  I'm looking forward to sharing the coming month of writing with you.

Hooray, thanks for hosting again! I'm taking part in my first ever exchange; I'm about 6000 words into my fic and I think it might end up around 7500 in total. I want to try finish a first draft by the weekend so I can start editing.

Wow, that's fantastic progress and SO exciting! I hope you have a marvelous experience. Exchanges can be so much fun! :-)

Yay, good luck with that! Exchanges are awesome. I've written some of my best stories through them, and also various things I'd never thought I'd write, or write about. ^^

I was just wondering earlier today where we're heading next because I couldn't remember, good to know it's here! Hi again you both!

I'm hoping hoping hoping that in May I might finally get to writing my novel. I still have some research and such to do before I feel ready to tackle it, but I need a deadline so I don't just research forever, so I'm aiming for mid-May-ish, depending on if I've got certain things sorted out by then. I also have some fics to write, for hurtcomfortex (having two months for writing doesn't seem to make me write the story any sooner than having one month!) and for who_guestfest (I've already written a part of that story), and some bingo sign-ups I'd like to do as well - fluff bingo deadline is at the end of the month, and I've started several fics and hopefully can finish at least one bingo line...

Hi! Welcome! I'm so glad you're joining us. :-).

Wow, you have a lot of writing for May--that's marvelous! For me, I always like to know where I'm going in a month, so to speak, so I appreciate that you've got both the self-imposed deadline for novel starting and also the fest deadlines, which can give shape and structure to your work. I wish you many happy words this month!

Well, I'm not saying I'm going to succeed in all my goals! :-D But I agree, it's useful to have some deadlines and other signposts to guide me through the month, so there's always something at hand when I wonder what to write. Of course, I often still end up writing some completely different things and scrambling to meet the deadlines, but still. :-D

But starting the novel needs some kind of deadline - if I don't make mid-May, I'll have to pick the beginning of June or some similar date in the near future. Otherwise I can spend ages just researching and planning until I get tired and move to the next project. I've learned some things about my own creative processes over the years...

[i've done a single solitary initiatory month of write-every-day which i just summarised with correct numbers etc, and it was such a good challenge, and fun to join the check-ins. so i'm going to hang around another month, see how long i can extend this personal-record-breaking streak ]

My goals are to finish an exchange fic (current needs some editing, and then it can go back to beta), keep up my posting streak at fan_flashworks, and hopefully also get back to my WIP #2, which has been languishing for a while now. (All works at the moment are in Guardian fandom.)

Hello again! Thank you for hosting May. In a fit of optimism, I signed up for a gift exchange and have basically only May to write it. Whee! At least I have an idea. :D

Those both sound like excellent, meaty goals sure to keep you busy. (Also, if past is prologue, you'll be ambushed by a story idea that insists it be written IMMEDIATELY. :-)
