sylvanwitch here: Just back from an amazing lecture on the intersection of indigenous ways, science, and caring for the environment by Robin Wall Kimmerer and have an absolute spiritual/intellectual buzz. Before I met my friend for a pre-lecture meal, I added 382 words to the chapter, all of them smoking hot foreplay.

Day 5: 1,562 words on one WIP, and a net of 145 words of yet more continuity editing on the other. The perils of writing out of order!

*sympathies* I'm not fully up to date - is the project already there and waiting for you, or is your trouble also not knowing what to write next? For the case of having difficulties of starting with a waiting project, it sometimes helps me to either heartfeltily complain and whine either to my writing buddies, or write about why I can't or don't want to work at it (neither needs to be actually sent/posted, often enough just writing this helps me). Another trick which sometimes helps me is just forcing myself to write one sentence a time, no excuses, and if it's just the plainest alibi sentence.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the inspiration will hit you well and soon! *hugs*

I have a project I want to tackle, but that one's in a stage where it needs my full focus. And I can't manage that again yet after finishing the previous fic, so I need something else where I can just get words out and don't need to think about finalising anything yet - but I don't really have an idea for that.

I love the idea of complaining until the project starts working! That's awesome. :D

I totally get you on this! But if nothing other for getting out words is presenting itself - what about writing something for this project which is not what you need to do next? Letters from one character to the other, just some background scenes for your own enjoyment, character sheets, additional description, deleted scenes or ideas for them - anything that gets out words that aren't too demanding and might add to the project at a later state - or not, as this isn't what this is about. Over the last years I've changed my general writing mindset a lot towards "I really mainly want to enjoy writing". And as this is often either not what a current WIP needs, or would be too much of something as I tend to overly detailed descriptions and world-building, or something I want to see my characters doing but can't be bothered to write in publishing-worthy detail, so I'm writing what I call future deleted scenes or snippets just for my own amusement. A fair warning, though: it can happen that you want to keep something of this, and then have to work it into the fic proper... ;oP

It was so inspiring. I was on a sort of intellectual high for hours afterward, which made it difficult to sleep, but that was a good reason, I think. :-)
