Here we are at Day 1, ready to take on another month of writing adventures!

How has the writing gone for you so far?

~ ~ ~
[personal profile] sylvanwitch here: 490 new words on the revised Chapter One of The Priest and the Outlaw (note: working title), an original, post-Apocalypse gay action-romance novel I wrote in 2023/24. My editing process for this first pass includes incorporating content notes past-me helpfully left and paring the novel down from its current 120K words. I'd like it to be about 90K when it's all said and done.

[personal profile] ysilme here: 589 words for a drawer fic draft. After about two months of more or less alibi sentences only I'm glad my writing mojo is gaining momentum again.

Thank you both for hosting! I am here, I am ready! I am... tired. Ah well.

Aug 1st - 1225 words. An expanded ficathon fill (still working my way through the fills from [community profile] threesentenceficathon, one a day, occasionally two), and a challenge ficlet, plus final edits on two fics for posting.

Yay! Welcome back to our little corner of the internet! :-)

I see you are starting as you mean to go on, which is to say writing a lot of words across several projects and finishing things with great panache!

Thank you!

I'm not usually writing quite so much per day at the moment, but some days just result in more words. Depends on the project. I did manage to finish and post two WiPs last month, so I'm hoping to finish and post another one this month. We shall see if I can fit that in among all the regular challenges...

Welcome back! Congrats to such a great word count! Tell me about being tired, though... *hugs*
My productive creative writing rather stalled a few months ago, and I'm creepling along since with alibi sentences and small chunks of notes and ideas for drafts. Accordingly, all my plans and ideas for [community profile] threesentenceficathon went to nought. TBH I completely forgot about all the prompts I've marked for this year... so thanks muchly for the reminder, this might actually be a good way to also get outside of my drawer fic writing mind again! *g*

Thank you! Tired is my default setting at present. The cool, rainy weather isn't helping. I just want to curl up and listen to music while I do cross stitch.

*hugs* I hope you'll find new motivation for your creative writing. [community profile] threesentenceficathon is the writing community that keeps on giving. Even though I've stopped writing for the prompts, turning my snippets into ficlets is generating a fair number of words every day, which is the main reason I'm still getting solid daily wordcounts. I've expanded a fill every day for the past 3 months at least, and I still have loads I -haven't worked on yet.

Good luck with the prompts yourself, I hope you have some good ones that will inspire you!

*hugs back* and thanks! Sympathies about the weather, too - for me it's the other way 'round; I thrive in cool weather with rain being absolutely fine, but when it gets hot I just want to curl up and read or play video games.

I've expanded a fill every day for the past 3 months at least, and I still have loads I -haven't worked on yet.
Good grief, how many fills did you write? ;oP I'm definitely playing in a much different liga [IDK if that saying works also translated into English?]. But I've accepted a long time ago that while at times, I'm getting out amazing word counts, final versions of about anything takes a long time. I'm none too bad at writing decent first versions of quick prompts, like for 3SF or drabble challenges, but usually particularly with these my origin of language shows badly. And turning a short piece or snippet into decent English is, to my surprise, much harder than doing so with longer texts; but I also realised a good while back that I'm much more critical with the terms and phrasing used in short texts than in long ones, as both are different writing styles for me.
I just thought back - my first ever English text/fanwork was a poem of all things, and one that actually worked, and I'm saying that as someone who's not having much affinity to poetry. But during the time when I was writing lots of drabbles I could easily write several in a row in English, and the only edits needed were those to get the exact word count. On the other hand, back then I wasn't able to write fics with more than 5k. ;op

It was supposed to be dry today, I had to go into town for a sight test, and I'd chosen to cycle. I
got soaked. =/

Uh... somewhere around 300? Not sure. I've posted 73 of them so far. o_O

Everyone has a different style of writing. I think it's easy for me because I'm writing in my native language. I don't have to translate thoughts, phrases, and concepts into another language. I'm always super impressed by anyone writing in English who isn't a native English speaker, because this language makes no sense half the time. The grammar rules have so many exceptions I don't know how anyone ever learns English if they don't learn it from birth. Also kudos for being able to write things over 5k. I only do that occasionally, and it takes me forever, because I forget the details I've already included and have to spend half my time re-reading so I don't contradict myself.

Good luck with your short pieces!

[personal profile] sylvanwitch: Paring it down by 25% is a substantial chunk! Good luck!

Day 1: Discovered I was writing HISTORICALLY INACCURATE crackfic, which dropped a spanner in the works! (I take my crackfic very seriously!) But some brainstorming and research has presented me with a solution, and I have revised the draft accordingly.

Oh, I love that you worked through the problem and found a way to make it work, especially as it’s crackfic! Excellent!

And speaking of work, I do have mine cut out for me, don’t I? Ah, well, I guess I wouldn’t want it to be easy. *sighs* :-) Thank you for the luck! I suspect I’ll need it!

Crack treated seriously (including being historically accurate) is one of my favourite things, and I can totally relate to having a spanner dropped into things when discovering inaccuarcy. I often have the same issue even with just drawerfic snippes I know I won't keep anyway - but I just can't continue writing when something doesn't add up, is inaccurate or I can't figure out something else my brain deems important. ;op
Yay for having found a solution and being able to continue! *\O/*
TBH I even love this about my writing brain. No matter how frustrating it can be to be plagued with all these background demands, it's just so satisfying to get it right - and for me as a ready, it also is such a pleasure and delight if an author does the same!

It's lovely when you find an effective solution for a problem that's been plaguing you. And yes, I'm one of those writers who can't continue forward on a wobbly foundation. What I have written has to be solid (not necessarily finished or polished, but structurally sound!) before I can make forward progress.

And congrats to you for yesterday's wordcount! I'm glad to hear you've finally found your momentum!

Welcome back! :o) I love 'Chez Hexen', thank you! ^^
Go you for writing happening for you, no matter what kind. Large and sprawling including a case of ellipses sounds not too unfamiliar to me. *g* *side-eyes thee major and a few minor drawer fic projects* (Two years ago I converted the word count of the largest drawer project into book pages and got about 1,3k. ONE POINT THREE THOUSAND BOOK PAGES for a drawer fic project. At least since then my brain is no longer allowed to compe up with mentions of "but you can't really write, it's all humbug ..." LOL
Anyway, happy continued sprawling, may the ellipses be graceful or something. *g* *hugs*
