ysilme here: writing got a bit in the background for me in the last two weeks due to a large gardening project; we upgraded our previous contaniner vegetable gardening to proper veggie beds in raised frames; and constructing and filling these left my hands too tired and for typing more than an alibi sentence on most days. My main goal is getting back on track and continuing to work on two current smaller WIPs. I also signed up for writing treats for the Tolkien Reverse Summer Bang, and am currently checking the art gallery for possible ideas.
sylvanwitch here: I added 212 to the story I've been working on for the past few days. I had gardening to do, so I stopped mid-final-scene. I want to 'stick the landing,' so I'm going to wait until tomorrow to finish the first draft. I haven't got too many words left to go. This is the first time I've written a story tailored to a specific market. Typically, I write a story and then hope I can find somewhere to place it. There's no guarantee that this one will be accepted, of course, but since I first heard about the project, I've wanted to be a part of it, so we'll see. (That's all I'm saying because I'm superstitious, not because I'm being coy. :-)

ysilme, your garden project sounds very cool! <3
(and sylvanwitch, I hope your writing/day is going well too!)
Day 1: Probably at least 1k, between finishing scenes and editing scenes and expanding scenes. Hard to give a solid number, though! But definitely quite a lot of words and even more time spent thinking about words!

Date: 2021-06-02 12:05 am (UTC)It sounds like you had a very productive day, too, and your goals for the month sound very doable. I wish you ALL the words! May the Muse be kind and all the words good ones! :-)

Date: 2021-06-03 10:21 pm (UTC)Thanks, too! Right now the project is rather hot, as in, the outsides suddenly turned the furnace on; I'm just glad the major hard work is done by now! ^^

Date: 2021-06-02 12:07 am (UTC)(We added two new veggie beds this year, as well, to expand what I usually do in containers. That involved fencing it to keep the deer, raccoons, and rabbits out of it, as well. I definitely relate to everything you say here about having tired hands. *hugs*)
YAY for writing treats and browsing images to find just the right ones!

Date: 2021-06-03 01:44 pm (UTC)Yes, it's indeed super-rewarding, and I'm also rather proud that I shovelled most of the soil by myself as Siljan wasn't available for most of the time. I also don't mind that my body aches afterwards, but since we started to paint the house I'm having reoccurring issues with my hands, mainly trigger finger issues - thankfully nothing yet permanent, but after the last intense painting season I had it with all fingers of the right hand, and now with two fingers of that hand from the shovelling, which worried me somewhat, also because we've just started painting again. I know I need to take good care of my hands to avoid later problems which will affect my ability to type! On the other hand I was surprised that I had no muscle ache, just pain from overusing joints which isn't too bad as this was a hopefully one-time task; I wouldn't call myself fit by any means but it seems what I do all day long in house and garden gave me more muscle strenght than I thought.
I hopet the harvest will be decent, but we've had a too long, too cold spring for a really good harvest; and as the ground below has been left as it is it's expected that in the first year the growth might be hindered somewhat at some point, but it doesn't matter: if everythign will grow at all and increase the soil quality I'm happy! I'm also doing some veggies I haven't done before and am quite curious how they will work out, like peppers - it used to be too cold in our climate to grow them successfully, but now it might work.
But I'm really glad we don't have to put up new fences, too! I can relate very well to how grueling that is as well! All I have to keep out is cats from my beds/prevent them from digging around to go potty, but it seems like using straw mulch is doing the trick.
Go you for your own writing progress! *\O/* Also, best of luck with that new-to-you kind of project, and crossed fingers that it'll be accepted!

Date: 2021-06-02 04:33 am (UTC)Today I typed up the last stuff I wrote in May, tweaked some existing stuff, and wrote about a page and a half longhand. I do currently have a list of Things That Need to Be Fixed in the current section of the story before it gets sent off for actual people to read and I am determined to get to the end of the list before I get to the end of the month.

Date: 2021-06-02 07:58 am (UTC)On the 1st of June, I have:
- edited chapter 8 of the poly fic
- finished rewriting the bit of chapter 7 that needed work
- written 200 words on that short fic
- compiled the sections of the poly fic which involve a character who ought to drop French phrases into her English, and sent it to my beta who is a French speaker, so she can insert the French.
