Welcome everybody to another round of WED! If you like to share, tell us about your goals for the upcoming month and what you're up to writing-wise.
Please don't hesitate to ask [personal profile] sylvanwitch or [personal profile] ysilme any questions you have.

Tally:
Welcome post

Let us know if we missed you or if you didn't check in for a while, so we can add you. Of course joining the fun is possible at any point.

[personal profile] ysilme here: writing got a bit in the background for me in the last two weeks due to a large gardening project; we upgraded our previous contaniner vegetable gardening to proper veggie beds in raised frames; and constructing and filling these left my hands too tired and for typing more than an alibi sentence on most days. My main goal is getting back on track and continuing to work on two current smaller WIPs. I also signed up for writing treats for the Tolkien Reverse Summer Bang, and am currently checking the art gallery for possible ideas.

[personal profile] sylvanwitch here: I added 212 to the story I've been working on for the past few days. I had gardening to do, so I stopped mid-final-scene. I want to 'stick the landing,' so I'm going to wait until tomorrow to finish the first draft. I haven't got too many words left to go. This is the first time I've written a story tailored to a specific market. Typically, I write a story and then hope I can find somewhere to place it. There's no guarantee that this one will be accepted, of course, but since I first heard about the project, I've wanted to be a part of it, so we'll see. (That's all I'm saying because I'm superstitious, not because I'm being coy. :-)

I've spent some time today expanding on the outline for what's probably going to be my July Camp NaNo project, a superhero romance. I have a really sparse outline that I wrote in a single day as part of a challenge. Just the main plotline mapped out and some thoughts about the settings and the two main characters. So today I sat down to do some coherent worldbuilding and to write down potential ideas for subplots, side characters, a couple of short dialogue snippets that I may or may not use, etc.

Hi! It's awesome to be here again, thanks for hosting! <3

This month my biggest goal, emotionally, is to finish my [community profile] fandom5k fic (which is due Friday, but there's two whole weeks for continuing to edit before reveals). I would also love to get some non-exchange fic done (there are several I want to work on!), but the exchange fic comes first. :)

...there are also other exchange fic I need to write, but they're shorter and due later.

ysilme, your garden project sounds very cool! <3

(and sylvanwitch, I hope your writing/day is going well too!)

Day 1: Probably at least 1k, between finishing scenes and editing scenes and expanding scenes. Hard to give a solid number, though! But definitely quite a lot of words and even more time spent thinking about words!

It's so good to see you again! :-) Thank you for the kind words about today's writing--it did go well.

It sounds like you had a very productive day, too, and your goals for the month sound very doable. I wish you ALL the words! May the Muse be kind and all the words good ones! :-)

Thanks, too! Right now the project is rather hot, as in, the outsides suddenly turned the furnace on; I'm just glad the major hard work is done by now! ^^

That sort of heavy lifting work for gardening is both super rewarding for me because of the sense of accomplishment at creating new garden spaces and also back-breaking, muscle-straining, exhausting hard labor. There's a feeling of accomplishment in THAT, too, but I do wish it came with less pain! Lol! I hope you get an immensely satisfying harvest from your new veggie beds! YAY!

(We added two new veggie beds this year, as well, to expand what I usually do in containers. That involved fencing it to keep the deer, raccoons, and rabbits out of it, as well. I definitely relate to everything you say here about having tired hands. *hugs*)

YAY for writing treats and browsing images to find just the right ones!

From: [personal profile] ysilme

Yes, it's indeed super-rewarding, and I'm also rather proud that I shovelled most of the soil by myself as Siljan wasn't available for most of the time. I also don't mind that my body aches afterwards, but since we started to paint the house I'm having reoccurring issues with my hands, mainly trigger finger issues - thankfully nothing yet permanent, but after the last intense painting season I had it with all fingers of the right hand, and now with two fingers of that hand from the shovelling, which worried me somewhat, also because we've just started painting again. I know I need to take good care of my hands to avoid later problems which will affect my ability to type! On the other hand I was surprised that I had no muscle ache, just pain from overusing joints which isn't too bad as this was a hopefully one-time task; I wouldn't call myself fit by any means but it seems what I do all day long in house and garden gave me more muscle strenght than I thought.
I hopet the harvest will be decent, but we've had a too long, too cold spring for a really good harvest; and as the ground below has been left as it is it's expected that in the first year the growth might be hindered somewhat at some point, but it doesn't matter: if everythign will grow at all and increase the soil quality I'm happy! I'm also doing some veggies I haven't done before and am quite curious how they will work out, like peppers - it used to be too cold in our climate to grow them successfully, but now it might work.
But I'm really glad we don't have to put up new fences, too! I can relate very well to how grueling that is as well! All I have to keep out is cats from my beds/prevent them from digging around to go potty, but it seems like using straw mulch is doing the trick.

Go you for your own writing progress! *\O/* Also, best of luck with that new-to-you kind of project, and crossed fingers that it'll be accepted!

Hello again! Thanks for hosting and welcome to another month where I start out with good intentions!

Today I typed up the last stuff I wrote in May, tweaked some existing stuff, and wrote about a page and a half longhand. I do currently have a list of Things That Need to Be Fixed in the current section of the story before it gets sent off for actual people to read and I am determined to get to the end of the list before I get to the end of the month.

Day 1: today was an editing day! So I wrote a net of 141 words while editing this complete draft that I hope to post sometime in the next week or so, and I did 55 words' worth of editing and re-familiarizing myself with a WIP I'd set aside early last month.

*cheers on both of your projects*

My plans for June (how is it June?!?) are 1) my [community profile] intoabar assignment, 2) an exchange treat, 3) three flashfics for [community profile] fan_flashworks, 4) mid-length WIP #1 (h/c), and 5) mid-length WIP #2 (AU). Theoretically all of that should be entirely do-able, but I haven't been very good at focusing, so we'll see.

1st: 904 words on [community profile] intoabar, and 110 words on WIP #2.
2nd: weekly update post, and 666 words on [community profile] intoabar (numerical connotations entirely unintended!), even though I squandered most of the day away. I now have a draft! (It feels a bit blah, but hopefully I can figure out how to make it better tomorrow.)

I have FINISHED the first draft of the 142K poly fic I was working on last time you hosted! \o/ I've edited the first eight chapters, out of 29. My goal for this month is to finish the editing and post it. I also aim to finish and post a short fic I'm working on, and hopefully also work some more at a filk song I've got lying in the drawer. Good luck on your own goals!

On the 1st of June, I have:
- edited chapter 8 of the poly fic
- finished rewriting the bit of chapter 7 that needed work
- written 200 words on that short fic
- compiled the sections of the poly fic which involve a character who ought to drop French phrases into her English, and sent it to my beta who is a French speaker, so she can insert the French.

Day 1 was a little bit of wording on my secondary Fandom Trumps Hate gift. I've had to do a certain amount of switching back and forth between projects as inspiration and words dry up on one, so it's nice that others will step in to fill the void after I've left them alone for a bit.

My goals for June are pretty simple - more progress on all projects, including the exchanges I'll be signing up for in June. More words, more words, etc., etc., mwahahaha.
