Welcome to Day One of Write Every Day!

If you're new to WED and need more information, please check out the welcome post and our introductory post, which provides information and useful links. Of course, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask them here or in a private message to [personal profile] sylvanwitch or [personal profile] ysilme!

The bow of a boat, tied to wooden poles in still water, with a quote by Amy Joy saying "Anyone who says writing is easy isn't doing it right."

We're looking forward to a fantastic month with all of you and would love to hear your plans for this month of writing. Are you working on existing projects, launching new ones, experimenting with a new process, overhauling an old one, editing a draft, writing for a fest, and/or playing in your favorite fanfiction pool? Whatever your project(s), please share, if you're so inclined, so we can cheer each other on. May the Muse be kind and all the words good ones.
(Sylvanwitch)

Day 1: [personal profile] badly_knitted, [personal profile] chanter1944, [personal profile] china_shop, [personal profile] cornerofmadness, [personal profile] lferion, [personal profile] ljm, [personal profile] luzula, [personal profile] mific, [personal profile] regshoe, [personal profile] sanguinity, [personal profile] shadaras, [personal profile] sylvanwitch, [personal profile] trobadora, [personal profile] yasaman, [personal profile] ysilme

~ ~ ~

[personal profile] ysilme here: 388 words of drawer fic for me - I should be working at my fannish WIP, and finish my art contribution to a current challenge, but there simply wasn't enough time today.

[personal profile] sylvanwitch here: 268 words on one of the two original short stories I'm currently working on, this one about a disco in hell. My goals for July are to finish these two stories and to submit at least two short stories for consideration at pro-rate publications. (I've currently got four out there already.)

Hiiiii! *waves to you both*

My goals for the month: 1) finish my humour fic (I'm currently on chapter 3 out of 7, and it's already over 6k), 2) if my auction fic comes back from beta, work on that again, 3) finish a draft of either my post-canon multiple POV WIP or my Prehistoric Curtainfic WIP, depending on how I'm feeling. (Both could use outlining, so maybe some of that.)

1st: I've made some progress on my humour fic, but I don't have a word count. (I also went for a long bike ride and had to stop to write down a reveal I'd figured out.)

YAY for long bike rides that engender revelations! And for humour fic in general and YOURS in particular! Your goals all sound eminently doable! We're here to cheer you on! :-)

ETA: I just realized I never thanked you for hosting us last month. THANK YOU! You are AWESOME and AMAZING and WONDERFUL and SPLENDIFOROUS, and as always, I enjoyed sharing the writing journey with you. *hugs*

*waves happily back* Hi, you! It's so lovely to have you with us for this round again! ♥ Good luck for your goals, you'll be busy with these, I imagine! :o) Yay for writing happening on days 1 and 2 for you, and for unintentional angst in the humour fic - sounds good to me! XD And LOL about the bike ride interruption - I've used the recording app on my phone for that purpose at times, too; and of course these things need taking down, otherwise they're gone afterwards, aren't they?

Ha, yes, a bit ambitious, but it's more a "planning what's next" than a "I have to finish these." None of them have deadlines. :-)

and for unintentional angst in the humour fic - sounds good to me! XD

Hee! *hearts*

and of course these things need taking down, otherwise they're gone afterwards, aren't they?

Yes, exactly. If I don't write things down immediately, they quickly start to lose their sharp edges/flavour, and also, there's no room in my head to come up with other things, because I'm too busy Actively Remembering. Using a recording app is a great idea.

I'll be pretty erratic posting here as I generally suck at writing on a regular schedule. I need to finish a Captain America fic of at least 5000 words by mid-July, and the outline for a due South comic around then, as well. Then I'll need to continue work on an SGA Big Bang work which is at 5000 words currently and is likely to be twice that by the end.
I suddenly got inspired today and wrote 1370 words to finish a fic for a looming Venom challenge. Unfortunately, it ended up being in a different fandom as I thought it'd be a crossover but it's really not. Hopefully, some accompanying art will save the day.

Welcome to [personal profile] zwei_hexen and this round of WED, and good luck with your goals for July! Don't worry about erratic posting, as long as you're commenting on the most recent entry (otherwise I might miss it, I'm quite good at scatterbraining ;op ) it's fine. Congrats on the inspiration and great word count, and I hope the art will indeed save the day!

Hello again, thank you for hosting :D

I have a few things on the go at the moment. There's my Flight of the Heron/White Cockades crossover WIP, which has a few thousand more words to go; then I've got one mostly-finished fic for [community profile] raremaleslashex, and have just started trying to write another. I'd like to finish this one in time for the exchange, obviously post the first RMSE fic, and possibly also finish the first draft of the crossover, though I may well not get that far in a month! We'll see.

Day 1: 650 words on the speculative second RMSE fic.

Hello again! *waves* So good to be here again.

I'm still working at getting some of my older fics tidied up and posted, it's going quite well.

July 1st - 593 words, a 500 word challenge ficlet and editing on a fic that's now posted. Yay!

*waves back* Welcome back to this round of WED! Good luck with your goals for July - that's a great project! I've been doing something similar recently, as in organising my first fanfics, mostly small ones and written in German, into one document for an ebook, and am also trying to tie up older WIPs or kind-of-series with getting all kinds of small drafts, ideas and WIPs either into a connected draft, discard them, or finishing them for posting.

Juggling older fics is hard. Just yesterday I found a Doctor Who fic that I'd forgotten about. It's nowhere near finished. I think it started out as a drabble idea that got away from me.

Good luck with getting all of yours organised so they can hopefully be finished and posted!

I wrote! Not a lot, just 100 words or so.

I am on a fannish trip until the 6th or so, and I don't expect to write much until I get home. But I will be doing and receiving beta-reading in person, which is great!

Goals for the month: finish a short fic (maximum 5000 words) which I started while traveling, and then get back to work on my longfic WIP and hopefully get it to 60K.

Goals for the month: try again to get back to proper writing. (And somewhere in there, write a fic for my [community profile] everywoman assignment.)

For the 1st, I only have a small snippet, essentially an alibi paragraph, but then I didn't actually try for more. (Totally wiped this week; the weather's getting to me.) I'm going to make a proper attempt tomorrow - fingers crossed!

[personal profile] ysilme - yay for drawerfic! that's a good amount of words for a day where you say you didn't have much time. :)
[personal profile] sylvanwitch - those are great goals, and a disco in hell sounds like a super fun story to be working on. :) nice job!

Things I'm up to this month!
- Finishing QZGS minibang
- Exchange fic (multiple)
- [community profile] pod_together
- some things just for fun :)

Day 1: A paragraph of a fic I hadn't touched in six months xD past me left a nice outline, and the emotional thrust of the fic is easy for me to hold on to across that time, at least!

Your goals sound amazing--and I'm so glad you're leaving room for fun as well. I wish you joy of ALL the writing!

And thank you so much for the kind words. The story idea came to be because I had one of those weird brain moments in which I put two different titles together (in this case a band name and a song name) and then got the ol' "What if?" It's a trip that I'm enjoying being on!

[personal profile] sylvanwitch: Oo, a disco in hell! That sounds like a lot of fun. (Or should that be a lot of torment?)

Jul 1: 560 words, unsticking myself from the scene I've been stuck on for most of the week. We'll see if I can finish it tomorrow, and if I can then build a pathway from the new version of this scene to the old material that followed it.

Goals for July: I'm halfway through revising "Hornblower's Lost Honour" -- I'd like to finish this revision pass, and maybe also finish the draft. I've so far made two attempts at the epilogue, totaling 10K between them, and wasn't happy with either of them. The hope/plan was that in making a revision pass, I might come up with a firmer idea of what the epilogue needs to do, but we'll see how it goes.

Day 1: 452 words on WIP 1 tonight, which I hope to get close to finishing a complete rough draft of this month, if possible. This particular plotty WIP has languishing in my files since 2019 /o\ Other than that, I've got a couple possible exchange fic fills I might try to finish this month (they're due in August), and/or one or two short fics that'll act as the carrots to the stick that is the plotty WIP 1. No time to start on any of those today though, alas!

Pro-rate is short for "professional rate," meaning, typically, between .05 cents and .08 cents per word. The designation is significant mostly (for me) because in order to qualify for membership in the SFWA, my goal, I need to publish three (I think) stories in recognized pro-rate magazines/publications. That's what I've been attempting to achieve for this last while.
