So let's start with another month of the Write Every Day Challenge! Good luck to you all with your writing goals this month; I hope our group gives you the support and encouragement you need to achieve them.

Welcome to any newcomers! Please don't hesitate to ask [personal profile] sylvanwitch or me any questions you have. To report your tally, please comment to the most recent tally entry, also if you missed some days. Just tell us the days you wrote on and we'll edit you in on the next tally.

Tally:
Welcome post

~~~
[personal profile] ysilme here: my main goal for this month is getting back into concentrated writing at my current WIPs after several weeks of other things taking necessary precedence. I have yet to put down words today, but as we have a holiday today, I spent a couple of blissfull hours earlier at reorganising my fanfic archive, revisiting old favourites, and re-reading parts of them, as well as revisiting some abandoned WIPs to see if I might take them out again. It was quite fun and nostalgic!
[personal profile] sylvanwitch here.   My goal for the month is to finish the first edits of the ambush project (and maybe while I'm at it find a better title ;-).  Of course, because I've made that my goal, I spent my words today, 509 of them, on a short story idea that came to me during a conversation with a friend at work.  So...when that's done, I'll return to the edits.  (I'm about halfway through the book at the moment.)
\o/ That's always so much fun!
I'm still living in the future, so here's my first two days:
1st: Made edits to and posted a ficlet, and wrote a Dreamwidth post.
2nd: Plugged some plotholes in my exchange fic. I'm taking a printout with me when I go out this afternoon, and hope to have time to read through and catch any flow-on issues, so I can send it to beta tomorrow.
Both of those things sound like productive, excellent work! Yay! :-) (I love that you live in the future. It makes me hopeful that there will be one. *grins*)
It's not a good start for me, only an alibi sentence was written today. I don't have any particular goals right now, so I'll work on the WIPs I have lying around and see if I can't finish something.
Some days are just recalcitrant like that, aren't they? You have the intentions, but circumstances plot behind your back to leech away your will to write. I can definitely relate. I hope you found a WIP that sparked your interest.
I wrote today, yay! I put together a resume for the first time in 8 years. It was intimidating.
I also did some quick scene outlining for the gift fic.
Yay for writing! And an especially BIG YAY for writing a resume. Those are SO challenging, especially after a time gap, and you deserve ALL the pom-poms. *\o/*
scene: outdoors, early Friday morning. approaching the school. raining. Marinette, half asleep, is riding piggyback on Nino and holding a large black umbrella over them both. Nino is about a quarter asleep himself. as is Alya, who jogs up, more interested in keeping her tray of to-go coffee dry than herself. one each for Alya and Nino, two for Marinette, though everyone is hoping Marinette can stay awake till lunch hour on only one and a half. the umbrella closes itself on Marinette's head.
this is all Adrien PoV. smell of rain, smell of coffee.
plot kicks in when characters start talking but given how difficult it's been getting this coherent I'm just...not gonna yet.
Having posted a 23k fic yesterday, I tended to an ongoing project so that I could top up my queue of posts. I don't necessarily keep exact words counts on any given day, but I did finish a full post in that space, along with a few other prompts and bits, so plenty of writing, both professionally and personally, today.
Excellent progress! And hey, count your productivity in whatever way you feel is best. I think it's fantastic that you got so much accomplished today, particularly post-posting, when I often feel a significant slump.
Just to say it out loud in case it's not clear: there's absolutely no need to give an exact word count or anything. The only requirement for a positive tally entry is to have written _anything_. What it is, how much of it, and what you count as writing is totally up to yourself! Most of us are motivated by those figures so we list them, but that's the only reason. ;o)
Also, it's no requirement to have a positive word count to report in - we're also here to hold hands, symapthise, listen and comfort if the words aren't coming or are fighting back.
I appreciate the explicit mention of those things. I generally do write every day, but it's good to know what if I had a zero words day, I could still check in.
954 words for me, which when I'd just written them (and deleted chunks, and rewritten them) I decided I hated, but I've just read them back and decided they're not that bad \o/
There's something to be said for the NaNo model of writing, by which you throw the words down and make them stick until later, when you can go back in editing mode and look at them through a different lens. Yay for words! :-)
Thank you two for hosting this month again!
I wrote about 700 words of fanfic, mostly on a complete first draft of a fluff bingo ficlet. Fluff of the tooth-rotting variety, no doubt, but just what I needed. I'll have to see if I want to add a substantial bit to the beginning, or if I just mainly need to weed out needless repetitions, but we'll see. I feel like I stand a chance of getting at least one bingo line out of this - I've at least started on four of the five fics required for a bingo. :-)
Hey, there are times in my life when tooth-rotting fluff is precisely what I need to get through, so I definitely applaud your choice in genres. :-)
That's fantastic progress! Yay!
I'm doing the A Story A Day challenge again. A story a day for the month! I'm not sure I'll actually write one a day; I found I kind of burned out last time I did it. But we'll see.
Today's effort wasn't great, since I only had about half an hour to write today. Wednesdays are like that, sigh. I couldn't do anything with the prompt given, a sort of fill-in-the-blanks form, which just makes me clam up for some reason. So I used a prompt from my trusty copy of What If? by Anne Bernays and Pamela Painter (this is a plug -- it's a great book). I managed 231 words, not for the ages, but something! 8-)
Both of you seem to be off to a good start! [personal profile] ysilme: Sifting through old WIPs is always fun. [personal profile] sylvanwitch: Setting a goal to concentrate on one project seems to be the best way to get ideas for other stories!
Lol, to the last--that's absolutely true. At no time is my brain more fertile than when I'm supposed to be focused on one thing.
Good luck on the challenge! I think I'd probably have the same issue as you have, re: burn out. And thanks for the book rec! For all the writing I do, I don't read many writing-related texts. I appreciate the rec.
Thank you for hosting this month!
I did a first pass edit on four chapters of an 80K fic that I finished for last month's write every day. And I wrote 600 words for a treat for the POI exchange due at the end of the month.
Good to see you're on board again, and writing! Doing a drabble a day while travelling is a gread idea, good luck with that! Also, a wave to you from somewhere close to Heidelberg. Where are you travelling exactly? I hope you get to see lots of lovely things and can enjoy the best things my country has to offer! :o) (If you like white asparagus and can eat it, try to get fresh one somewhere. It's pricey to eat in restaurants, but one of the staple experiences in Germany during the season.)
As for the tally, would you mind terribly reporting in always on the most recent post, no matter for which and how many days? Just state on which days you wrote - this way is the easiest for me to keep track. Thank you!
