[personal profile] ysilme here: 1,2k words for me. Nearly 200 are for the first draft of a fill for [community profile] threesentenceficathon.

[personal profile] sylvanwitch here: 135 words of an alibi fragment. It was a long morning of editing student revisions, which seems to have given me a headache, so I'm happy I managed that many words, honestly.

[personal profile] ysilme - WOOHOO! You can do it!

Aug 8th - 665 words. Two expanded ficathon fills, finished and posted the challenge fic, and minor edits to the two fics I've posted to my journals.

I was out all morning, so I didn't have much time to write today. Still managing to keep over 600 words a day though.

And I did it again today! ^^ Thank you. Congrats to finishing and posting those two fills and those edits, even more so as you had less time than usual.

Thank you. It was a busy day, but writing is an everyday thing for me, I refuse to skip a day.

Thank you! I managed to write a bit before I had to leave for my appointment, so that helped. Got another appointment next Friday, but it's earlier so I won't have time for writing beforehand. I'll hopefully get home earlier though. We shall see.

[personal profile] ysilme: A double drabble in three sentences: that is ABSOLUTELY the way of three-sentence ficlets! :-D

[personal profile] sylvanwitch: An excellent word count for the conditions, and I hope your headache feels better soon!

Aug 8. Some editing on the story draft I finished yesterday.

Yay for editing your draft! :o)

And thank you - but I'm afraid these are neither drabbles, double or single, nor will be limited to three sentences, although doing both of it would indeed be a perfect fill of those prompts. Also, what I wrote so far has been just first drafts, without knowing how short or long the end results will be (I wrote another today).
To my knowledge the three sentences rule isn't enforced, or at least nobody complained about my few fills in the last years, and I believe most fills I read myself also didn't follow that rule - but then again, I might just completely misremember as it's been a while. As I understand it (maybe wrongly) the fills are supposed to be at least three sentences, and shortish in nature, as in be just a snippet just in the way of a true drabble, but without word count expectations/limitations.

Oh, sorry! The examples I remember reading from other friends were all three sentences (although often the definition of "sentence" is stretched to the breaking point!), so I thought it was an "exactly three sentences" thing. Carry on, and I will stop imagining 70-word sentences. :-D

I was curious (and a tad worried if I'd gotten something completely wrong) so read up again and asked for advice. It's perfectly fine also by the rules to go over three sentences, and I just love how they address it in their FAQs:
"Can I still post if I need more than 3 sentences? Or should I just abuse grammar in ways the English language never contemplated?
[Answer]Yes. Yes. "

LOL But I heard that many participants also want the challenge of keeping to three sentences only. I can fully relate to that, I'm doing the same with true drabbles. Going with a limited word count is easy for me, but going with a limited amount of sentences is not. I can do it perfectly well in German (my language is very well-suited to complex and nested sentences, as you likely know *g* ) but not so much in English, so I opted rather for just telling my mini story. also wanted to get a few snippets of Bolitho out there as the fandom is so tiny, but those are still unfinished as life happened.

and I will stop imagining 70-word sentences. :-D

Sorry I made you uncertain of yourself! But good to know that the rules were what you thought they were.

And yes, I can see that limiting sentences (as opposed to words) would be a greater challenge in a second language. Less facility with all the gruesome ways a sentence might be tortured and still... somehow... cling to life.

That said, I might have to attempt a seventy-word sentence someday, just to see if I can. :-D

And yay, getting more Bolitho out into the world!

[personal profile] sylvanwitch - after the editing and the headache, it's impressive that you got any words, so way to go!

Day 8: 1761 words of "I Don't Like Your Girlfriend — Remix"! I finished and posted chapter 62, so I've only got two chapters left to go! ^^

Thank you so much!

What an excellent word count! I think you deserve all the credit for going back through and reworking/revising an older fic, and I hope you grow comfortable recognizing that your work IS writing and absolutely counts. Meanwhile, if it's okay with you, I will continue to congratulate you. However, if it triggers your imposter syndrome, please don't hesitate to tell me to back off. :-)

I'm sure in time I will get more comfortable with it. Please continue to congratulate me. It's not triggering imposter syndrome; I just felt the need to explain, so I didn't feel like I was misrepresenting what I was going. Thanks for the congratulations and encouragement! ^^

Yesterday and today were Days of Stupid -- you know those, the ones where nothing goes right or you have to wait all day for a plumber to come and unclog your sink. Augh.

So, day 7: Alibi sentence.

Day 8: Some editing; I was distracted but managed to pull a bunch of stray stuff together in one place. 8-)
