[personal profile] ysilme here: still feeling exhausted from lack of sleep due to coughing. I wrote about two sentences so far, I think, and re-posted my pinch-hit story to my usual haunts after the reveals tonight. Not much to show for the day so far, but I hope a bit more is coming forth still.

[personal profile] sylvanwitch here: I finished editing, found a title and managed a summary for, and posted the Bond/Q story I've been working on since mid-December. Feeling good! :-)

*hugs* for the exhaustion, and good luck getting some words down!

Day 4: 481 words, give or take (there were some deletions as well as additions), and now I have a completed first draft of my WIP! \o/ Need to tinker a bit, but hopefully I can get it to beta in the next few days. *twirls*

Alibi sentence again. I feel like I barely woke up today. Annoyingly, the last couple days the only time I've felt fully awake was when I was about to go to bed.

Hope you feel better soon and can get some proper sleep, [personal profile] ysilme!

I have to admit I wrote nothing new for any of my stories today because I got focused on my editing goal. But editing involved rewriting some small parts and adding a couple of lines of dialogue, soo it maybe counts?

And ysilme, I hope you feel better soon! ☕️

Oh, editing definitely counts! Please, never feel like you have to leave that out. In fact, "all" I did today was edit and post a story, but I definitely count that as writing. :-) Yay for editing, the underappreciated drudge work of the writing process. :-)

Today was spent weaving together some previously written scenes. I probably only wrote about 200 new words and deleted at least three times that, but I still count it as progress.

It's definitely progress. That nitpicky, careful work can be super-tedious, but I think it's sometimes the most important part of the writing process. Yay for words! :-)

There's something particularly depressing about being sleep-deprived due to coughing, my sympathies.

Spent another hour on the writing exercise. Didn't get as far as I would maybe have liked into the filling holes portion, but I do have a few new bits prodding at the back of my mind now. We'll see if I can get one of them written down tomorrow or if I can get any further writing the story out. Also one of the previously written bits sounds even more wobbly than I thought it was when I talk about it in this format so that's... helpful, I suppose. Trying not to go back and fix bits until all or most of the holes are filled, or unless filling a hole brings to mind a better way to do an older bit.

Thanks! I'm having insomina problems in general, so I don't mind as much - not being able to sleep because there's a proper reason for it is easier for me to bear, TBH. ;o) Thankfully, the bad coughing stopped and I've been able to sleep a few hours by now.
That writing exercise sounds a bit complicated to me, but likely only for my still sleep-deprived mind. *g* I hope you can work it out in the desired way for you!

Wishing you a restful night, ysilme. Congrats, sylvanwitch, on posting the story!

I thought I was going to have to use work writing for the check in (editing a report took up a good bit of my day), but I managed to get a couple good paragraphs for the WIP and I think I might even go write something completely unrelated and a bit porny here in a few minutes. Hmmmmm....

I worked a bit on the hopepunk story as I currently identify it as. Some words in draft, but maybe more in character notes. I also started writing the first fic for the [community profile] femslashficlets prompt table!

Ugh, sleep deprivation due to coughing is terrible. Because just coughing that much is exhausting in itself, and the sleep deprivation makes it worse. Hope you feel better soon, [personal profile] ysilme! And [personal profile] sylvanwitch, congrats for finishing and posting your story!

Day 3 - wrote a page and a half on a new story for the box challenge at [community profile] fan_flashworks, and jotted down a few lines for a potential new poem. \o/

Day 4 - rewrote most of yesterday's draft, but I like the new version much better. \o?

From: [personal profile] badly_knitted
Day 3 was pretty good, 1491 words, comprising the bulk of a story for a challenge community on LJ, plus editing on the two stories I posted to my journal last night, one Torchwood, one FAKE.

I usually post direct to challenge communities to beat the deadlines, then sit on the stories for a few weeks, sometimes months, editing and expanding, adding bits I didn't have time for because of the deadline. It means I have a folder of fics that are posted somewhere but I don't feel are really finished, and I keep coming back to them at random until they feel complete. A weird way of doing things, but it seems to work for me.

One of the things I most enjoy about hosting WED is learning about the way other writers do their work. Your methods are fascinating to me and way outside my own comfort zone. I love when a writer OWNS the process, though, and you are so confident in it. That's awesome!

Also, YAY for that word count! :-)

I think I'd probably have the same problem myself. I don't do the challenge because I can't post publicly, and it feels weird to do it under access limits, but I appreciate all the great stories coming out about how fans found their groove. :-)
