[personal profile] ysilme here: nothing for me yet today, I'll add it later.

[personal profile] sylvanwitch here: I edited the story I finished yesterday, adding and subtracting--mostly tightening. I'm going to let it sit for a day or two and then send it in. The deadline for submissions fast approaches!

Posting this in the right place this time...

June 3rd - 1051 words. Less than yesterday, but across fewer projects. A triple drabble for a challenge, then I dug out and expanded an old ficlet I was never entirely happy with, so now the new improved version has been posted. Also finished a longer fic that's been languishing on my hard drive for a few months. Hopefully I can get that one posted soon.

Wow, you've been productive! It must feel especially good to have finished those last two you mentioned. How cool! Yay!

Thank you!

Yes, it does, especially the older one. I wrote that back in 2017, but because I wasn't happy with it, it only got posted to the challenge it was written for. I've been trying for the last couple of months to clear out some of the older fics that have have been lurking for years, all of which needed some work.

The longer fic started life as a drabble but it quickly became clear it was never going to be drabble length, and I didn't have an ending for it. Yesterday, I had another bash at it and an ending came to me, so YAY!

Day 3: A number of words! :D I wrote out a list of all the drafts I had that I'd been ignoring because of fandom 5k, and looking at that made me go "oh I really want to finish that one", so I think I've successfully broken that hyperfocus. (Which is good—the fandom 5k fic is complete, and at this point it needs to sit for at least a week before I can do anything meaningful.)

I keep plotting. Today was more about untangling a knot than about moving forward with plotting or worldbuilding, but some progress was still made, even if it's hard to measure in words.
Also, I had a random dream about a couple of characters from an entirely different story and they sort of haunted me all morning. So to get them/the dream out of my head and to go back to plotting the new project, I wrote a brief flash fic about them, just 320 words or so.

Oooo! How cool that they came to you in a dream and poked you. (When my dissertation was lost for a year--long story--the woman about whom I was writing would come stare at me balefully in my dreams. As there is no extant image of her, I have no way of knowing if it was *really* her, but it didn't matter--she was making her feelings about finishing 'her' dissertation Very Clear. ;-)

YAY for words! And yay for untangling and figuring and noodling, etc. It's ALL words ultimately! YAY!

I have discovered that excitement only recently and now I'm sort of addicted to it, honestly. I worry that I'm going from "tightening" to "strangulation," however. ;-)

YAY for research! And for fake marrieds (one of my favorite tropes). :-)

Day 3 - one alibi sentence of fic, plus I edited a couple of old work samples and wrote a cover letter to apply to a freelance job.

June continues to be ... not ideal. I'm apartment hunting in a big city, and today I had a showing scheduled that got canceled less than 15 minutes before I was supposed to be there because it was already leased. Which was the second time today that an apartment was leased before I could get to a showing. And the SIXTH time this week. Things are wild out here.

Geez, that sounds awful! My niece and her husband just bought a house on first showing because they got there before it was formally listed AND offered $20K more than the asking price after having had several other houses yanked out from under them. This is to say that I am sorry you're struggling to find an apartment--that sounds miserable!--and I hope you're able to find someplace without another week of such hassles.

Also, GO YOU for getting words down under such stressful circumstances!

Thanks!

Yeah, it's been nuts. I'm really hoping that I can find somewhere good this weekend. I have 4 showings lined up so far, and knock on wood that none of those are cancelled ...

It seems like the market for buying a house is even more wild. My parents recently sold their house and I think they got 20 offers on the first day alone.

3rd of June:
I have edited chapter 10 of my poly fic, and added 300 words to the short fic. I am giving each chapter a title, which I think is a good idea, but ack, it's so hard!

Sylvanwitch, good job with editing, and Ysilme, I hope you get some writing in!

715 words for me for yesterday; about half of this for the WIP, the rest is meta. I'm not yet back to how I want to write, focus-wise, but it's much better than a few days ago.
