sylvanwitch here: I had a couple of "Oh!" moments while exam proctoring today, so I made a couple of slight adjustments/additions to the story and then read through it again. I think one more pass should do it, and then I'm sending it out, probably tomorrow or Sunday.

Day 4: Editing and posting a short fic. :) I'm enjoying letting my brain take a bit of a words-break; I'll pick up again more after the weekend, I think.

June 4th - 929 words. A 500 word smutlet that I think I might write a longer version of, editing on the fic I finished yesterday, which is now posted, and another old fic reworked and posted.

Thank you! It seemed like a fitting term, but I don't know who first used it.

I'm having an up and down time of it. One day I seem better, the next I'm worse again *sigh* Some things are hard to shake off.

The 4th is deadline day for me, so there was lots of exchange writing. All of it will need to be massively edited, but there are three weeks until reveals, so there's lots of time.

5th: wrote a 439-word original flashfic for FFW, and sent it to beta. Might try and get some words on my WIP later too, but right now my dishes await. ♥

Day 4: Typed up both the usable and the unusable material from yesterday (just in case!) which took like, five minutes, and attempted to write for the rest of the hour. Got a few more sentences typed up before I went back to the notebook and managed three pages longhand.

Excellent progress all the way around. The process you've got in place (writing and then typing it out) seems to work for you! Yay!

Several hundred words on the new story, then had a convo with my usual partner in crime that rattled my faith in it? There's no rush on it, though; I can let it sit until I'm happy with it again, whenever that may be.

I did it! I submitted it five minutes ago. *gulps* YAY!

I've had those moments, too, where a story is going along swimmingly and suddenly there's a wall in the water, blocking progress. I do not have the patience to wait for the wall to dissolve, however, which means I end up bashing myself against it repeatedly, so I commend you for your process, which involves giving it the time it needs. Go, you!

A major tenent of my process is "don't make myself unhappy". So many people talk about writing as this horrible awful self-torture that they have to make themselves do, and I decided a while back that all this was going to work much better if I actually look forward to my writing sessions.

So if there's something happening about my writing that is making me unhappy, I sit down and try to find a solution: another project, another mental frame, another process, another time of day... I think both my writing itself and my productivity have profited by it. I know my mental health has.

Day 4: just a net of 102 words of editing for me today, I was too busy and then feeling too blah for much else.

We have actually been in-person, full-time since September except for mid-November to end-of-Xmas-break because of a spike in numbers. Because we were remote for part of the first half of the year, the admin skipped midterms, so this was the first exam sitting for some of the students, though not my first proctoring by a long shot. *sighs* It went pretty well, though, and, as is often true, when I'm forced to do nothing else, my creative brain gets churning, so that's all to the good of my writing, anyway. ;-)

YAY for so much productivity! Hooray for the podfic and for the words and editing. You rock!

Yay for 'Oh!' moments, it's good when they happen before sending a story in! To me, this usually only happens after publishing. ;op
326 words for me for a drawer fic - my brain felt much less foggy after a thunderstorm and hearty reain, bringing back down the sudden humid heat of the last days.

*keeping my fingers firmly crossed* The steady, light, rain is also working its miracle, I' seeing all kinds of first glimpses of what I sew so far, yay! :o) Particularly one container where I threw in two handfuls of seeds I'd found in a forgotten container, all expired over five years ago or more. At least one variety was still active and is sprouting. I'm really curious what it's going to be. ^^ I've thrown a couple of handfuls of these on the compost heap; let's see if something happens there as well. *g*

A bit of a belated Day 4 check-in: more plotting and worldbuilding happened for the superhero story, and I also edited/partially rewrote a short story from last month.

Day 4 was mostly spent doing other things, but I did finally finish a post for the project queue and advance a little more on my outstanding FTH works.

Yay for finishing a post and getting a bit more done, as well--that's awesome, especially on a day filled with Other Things. YAY! :-)

Day 4: About 350 words on the silly essay -- I now have over 13 pages of notes! Though it's kinda spread out and there are a lot of quotes I'm only using for reference. Still! I'm not even halfway through 'annotating' the book. 8-/ I'm doing a lot of work for a basically jokey piece.

Oh well -- it is fun, so I should stop complaining. I actually look forward to all the arranging, revising and tightening I'll be doing! ;-)
