[personal profile] ysilme here: Today's quote was chosen by Sylvanwitch who also took the pic. As for my tally, there wasn't much writing time today with an addtitional three hours training session I needed to do, so I started out with an alibi sentence and ended up editing another small chunk of the WIP. Nearly no new words as there wasn't much to change, though. ^^

[personal profile] sylvanwitch here: I had another long day of adulting today, but I came home determined to submit *something*, so I investigated a magazine, wrote a cover letter, and submitted one of my favorite stories, which has been rejected at four other places. Maybe it's what this publication is looking for. I figure it can't hurt to try, anyway. So that was my writing for today.

July 6th - a 500 word challenge ficlet.

Then 2 hours in the garden, wrestling an out of control rambling rose. So far I think the rose is winning, there doesn't seem to be any less of it than there was three days ago =/

I follow a writer and gardener on Twitter who swears that roses are the devil's own plant, and I think she's probably onto something there. ;-) Good luck wrestling that rose into submission!

Also, GO YOU for getting in words when you've got the infernal project out in the garden going on. *grins*

Today's quote: the difference between the right word and the wrong word is one of the reasons I like using OneLook's reverse thesaurus so much -- it's pretty good at taking the almost right word (or phrase!), and managing to come up with the right one that I had been groping for, but couldn't bring up to the surface.

[personal profile] ysilme: I like it when an alibi sentence multiplies!

[personal profile] sylvanwitch: Well done on the adulting and good luck with the submission!

Jul 6: 340 words, still attempting to bridge from the new to the old. Not there yet, but perhaps soon?

I hear you on that! TBH this is something I'm sometimes struggling with the most in writing in English: I know that the word I'm using or which I found isn't right, but I'm unable to judge which alternative might be the one I need, as I'm not familiar enough with them in the given context, and/or my native British speaking beta disagrees (I generally attempt to write British English), or the word that's most suitable just feels wrong to me without me being able to explain why. ;op As I also said in a WED conversation last month? to somebody (I'm afraid I can't remember, it might have even been you *blush* ); I used to not care so much about these fine details, as my English wasn't as good as it is now, and I was just glad to know it wasn't off-putting to the readers. But with increasing proficiency and vocabularly also came increasing insecurity as well as perfectionism.XD
Good luck for successful bridging today! *\O/*
Edit: just read your update, yay!!!
