[personal profile] ysilme here: 1,1k for day 5: blog entries and 187 words for the NP.

[personal profile] sylvanwitch here: I was going to begin editing on the novel, but I changed my mind. On our vacation, I picked up the Folklore Oracle deck by Mike Bass, intending to use it as inspiration for writing exercises, so today I broke it in, shuffling it, drawing a card, reading the interpretation of the card in the booklet that comes with the deck, and then writing 490 words of a story I will likely finish tomorrow. It was fun to play with language and just fool around with words.

Yeah, it's a really interesting deck! I have my own deck (The Witches' Tarot), and my cards are snarky, so if I "left" them for another deck, I hate to think of the readings I'd get after that, but I figured it's safe enough to use these cards for writing. ;-)

That's an excellent word count! YAY progress!

Good luck with it. I have several decks too. The Edgar Allan Poe one I got last year from a friend is the silliest happiest deck and I'm like HOW can you be Poe?

[personal profile] sylvanwitch: That sounds like a well-earned treat/break before jumping into editing!

Jul 5: Set aside my original start for this chapter and tried again. Didn't have time for much more than an alibi sentence-turned-paragraph, but I like how this is going.

Thank you! I just have to make sure it doesn't become a total avoidance technique. ;-)

Oh, yay! I'm glad you found a way to wiggle into the story from a different direction. I hope today's words are even better for you. :-)

Day 5: 400 words; total wordcount 30,600. Also a recpost on DW.

[personal profile] ysilme: impressive word count!
[personal profile] sylvanwitch: sometimes you just want to dash off something short as a treat, I love that too.

Exactly! And as long as I don't make it into a total avoidance thing, I'm okay. ;-)

YAY for words! Look at that total wordcount! Woooo-hoooo!

Day 5: 623 words, mostly book-review notes.

[personal profile] ysilme: Yay words!

[personal profile] sylvanwitch: That deck sounds inspiring, and using it to just fool around with words is a great way to take a break from your novel for a bit before diving into editing.

Excellent progress! Yay!

The artwork is what attracted my eye at the shop, and the card I pulled yesterday--Sasquatch--has given me some great visual prompts.

Wow, well done [personal profile] ysilme, that's a lot of writing!

[personal profile] sylvanwitch, sounds like you had fun! Good luck finishing your fic.

July 5th - 1136 words, a 1k challenge fic and final edits on a fic for posting. It needed a better ending, the one it had when I wrote it for a challenge was too abrupt. Now it ends with some light-hearted banter between my characters.
