sylvanwitch here: I was going to begin editing on the novel, but I changed my mind. On our vacation, I picked up the Folklore Oracle deck by Mike Bass, intending to use it as inspiration for writing exercises, so today I broke it in, shuffling it, drawing a card, reading the interpretation of the card in the booklet that comes with the deck, and then writing 490 words of a story I will likely finish tomorrow. It was fun to play with language and just fool around with words.

Yeah, it's a really interesting deck! I have my own deck (The Witches' Tarot), and my cards are snarky, so if I "left" them for another deck, I hate to think of the readings I'd get after that, but I figured it's safe enough to use these cards for writing. ;-)

That's an excellent word count! YAY progress!

Good luck with it. I have several decks too. The Edgar Allan Poe one I got last year from a friend is the silliest happiest deck and I'm like HOW can you be Poe?

Jul 5: Set aside my original start for this chapter and tried again. Didn't have time for much more than an alibi sentence-turned-paragraph, but I like how this is going.

July 5th - 1136 words, a 1k challenge fic and final edits on a fic for posting. It needed a better ending, the one it had when I wrote it for a challenge was too abrupt. Now it ends with some light-hearted banter between my characters.

Thank you, hon! The artwork on the cards is what first drew them to my attention, and they're even better than the cover art had hinted, so I'm enjoying the visual feast of inspirations. :-)
