sylvanwitch here: We were at the county fair for most of the day, but I wrote a travel journal entry about yesterday’s adventures before we left for today’s.

Aug 13th - 1083 words. An expanded ficathon fill, and the start of a challenge fic.

(Also, had to deal with a massive spider... Eeep!)

I have empty milk containers everywhere in the house for quick spider catching. That way the spider is safely contained overnight and can be taken outside in the morning. It has been evicted.

We have one of those reinforced paper coffee cups and a piece of heavy stock cardboard, both of which T. has decorated with the words BUG FLIGHT and a red cross. We use that to capture creepy crawlies and rehome them out of doors, so I definitely relate to your milk container rescue plan!

They work very well as escape proof overnight accommodations.

Congrats on all the writing — getting any amount of words in between two consecutive days of adventures is impressive!

Day 12: 389 words of "Everyone Loves Lily."

Day 13: 3 words of "Madame Park's Academy 2" plus 521 words of "Everyone Loves Lily." The 3 words is not a typo. I was reading through the chapter to see where I needed to pick up, made corrections that added 3 words to the chapter thus far, and saw that I had left it just at the beginning of what promised to be a very physically and emotionally demanding sex scene, which I'm not up for writing tonight, so I switched back to "Everyone Loves Lily."

Oh, excellent progress! I know exactly what you mean, re: sex scenes. I have to be in a particular headspace to do them justice, and sometimes I am just not there. Good luck when you do get to it! :-)

Exactly. Plus, in this particular story the sex scenes are almost never just sex scenes: They're also very emotionally intense and also part of their spy training.

The sex scenes in the Madame Park's Academy books are the only times that the students and teachers can fully emotionally open up to each other. Plus, it plays a role in their training because they'll often be called on to use sex as part of their missions. Plus, when the scene is from the point of view of one of the instructors or of the head girl, it includes thoughts of how the student is progressing in their training and how their training needs to be changed to be more effective. (For example, in the scene that the scene I need to write now is a sequel to, Lucy [the head girl] sees that Yoojung's insistence of being dominant is not only failing to prepare her for situations where she will need to be submissive but it's also hampering Sei [Yoojung's roommate] in learning how to be dominant. When Sei dominates Lucy, she discovers a well of dominance that neither of them had been aware existed.)

Incidentally, when writing this, I noticed that "Mistress and Plaything" (the girls' preferred terminology) scans the same as "Master and Servant," which makes me want to rewrite the Depeche Mode song as a theme song for this series of fics.

We had a wonderful time, but the heat and humidity eventually wore me down. 3+ hours of walking for over 4 total miles! I got to scritch a horse's neck, however, and look at tiny piglets and admire the talent of so many 4H-ers, though, so it was all good.

Aug 13. More fucking around with scripts. But we passed a milestone: we have finalized recording scripts for all eight stories, hooray! And now that THOSE are finalized, I started updating AO3 with the correct titles, authors notes, etc.

Also, it was our anniversary, and we went to the river. There was a BIG HUGE FROG and also a garter snake. The snake had anchored its tail under a rock and had the tip of its nose out of the water, and was just chilling. Every once in a while it's tongue would go whirrrrr while it tasted the air.
