ysilme here: only about two sentences so far for me; I've been tied up in RL desk stuff most of the day and found out in the evening that I'm not yet up to choir rehearsal; I left half-way through and spent the rest of the evening on the sofa, too tired to write.

sylvanwitch here: It was a long day at work, lots of energy required, and I got home later than usual for work-related reasons, so by the time I sat down to write, I was running on fumes, but I managed 268 words of The Witcher fanfic, which promises to be, um, uncharacteristic, as for whatever reason, the narrative voice that came to me was Jaskier's. I have no idea either, given my track record for writing brooding, dark, morally questionable hero-types. Whatever. If I continue with it, it should, at least, be entertaining (and probably also annoying, like the narrator).

Excellent progress! Yay! I admire you writing on the bus. I can't even look at a map on a moving vehicle without incurring the wrath of the nausea god (everyone's least favorite god in the pantheon, I think). ;-)

89 words. More than an alibi sentence, not enough to get me in a rhythm and keep me from sleeping. TBH I nearly just went to bed and then I realized the washing machine wasn't done yet so I had to stay awake a little longer, so why not type *something*. Guests and somewhere between three and five hockey games this weekend so we'll see whether I manage to keep this going.

Day 8 - 200 words on the Hidden Figures fic for SWG, and I have decided to solve one of the things that came up as I was looking at the source material (it has been a very long time indeed since I read Lost Tales) by giving the character a twin. It potentially serves more than one purpose also, which pleases me.

Day 8: slow day at work meant time to write, so 592 words on the WIP with a deadline, 2,711 words on the one without, which, you know what? whatever! whatever, by the end of this month, I will have at least one (1) complete fic and I'm not gonna be picky about which one it is!!

Wow! I mean, I know you're working against a deadline on the one, but I have to say that word count on the non-deadline fic is amazing! Wooo-hooo! *\o/*

I mostly focused on finishing my Dear Author letter for Chocolate Box, but I also managed to write something like a hundred words of the ambush project.

Yay for words! As for working on your Dear Author letter, I think that's creative as well, particularly since you're presumably exploring the tropes and arcs you find most compelling in your own writing and/or in other things that you read.

Day 8 - 1091 words

I finished two part-written fics, bar the final editing, and added a bit to another that's maybe mostly done, might need a bit more tweaking and a better ending.Un fortunately I still have more than a dozen pieces I really need to work on and hopefully finish at some point, which might be easier if there wasn't the constant distraction of shiny new weekly challenge prompts popping up all the time, tempting the bunnies to start something new.

I think it's too late for that... Was writing a short (500 word) ficlet for the new slashthedrabble prompt and it's taken off, so there'll have to be two versions - the official challenge one, and a much longer adventure that's going to take a while to write *sigh* Dang those bunnies!

Still no fiction writing, bah! But work on the nonfiction project continues. Perhaps it will even be finished in my lifetime! 8-/

I missed the check-in for the 7th because it was a major holiday in my country and I was super busy with family stuff. I did sneak in a tiny bit of editing, and I also wrote the first couple of paragraphs for a character bio for a Call of Cthulhu (tabletop rpg) campaign.

The 8th was a lot more productive: more editing, finished that character bio, and wrote about 1/3 of a short story for a challenge (about 1,200 words all in all!).
I'm kind of neglecting my main WIP, but that's because I've reached a point where I feel I need to step back from it, reread what I already have and map out all of the various characters' intentions and hidden agendas, because all the court intrigue is getting a bit too complex to keep track of. I've decided it's better to devote a few days to doing this than writing myself into the corner, stopping, backtracking, rewriting, etc, etc. :)

Yay for all the interesting work you've done and are doing! I especially relate to what you say about your main WIP. I'm in that sort of place myself with my own, and I've been putting it off until I have a big chunk of days I can devote to doing the read-through work you've described here. I am sending you wishes of that kind of time when you're ready to do that work. (And I'm wishing it for myself also. ;-)

Sending you the same wishes! :) The long holidays here definitely helped me finding big chunks of time to do that, but now that they're essentially over, it's going to be back to experimenting with various time-managing techniques soon.

I've edited you in, that's never a problem. May I ask what holiday you had? I can only think of Orthodox Christmas, but I don't want to presume. But no matter what, belated Happy Holidays to you!
I think it's a very good idea to step back a bit from your fic for this purpose. It's so easy to write yourself into a corner! I always want to do this also with my exchange/challenge fics, but always end up too strapped for time to do so. IDK why but the inspiration always only strikes fully so late that I never managed it better since the first time. ;oP

Yes, Orthodox Christmas is exactly what it was. :) Thanks! And I get it so well about inspiration waiting until late to strike fully. Whenever I decide to take part in some challenge or exchange, I always resolve to start early. I often actually do start early! But then, all my ideas are suddenly gone and I'm not sure where the story's even going, until there are only a couple of days left and I'm scrambling to fit in at least one editing pass. :D

Wohoo, so you couldn't resist the lure to write fic for the new fandom! ^^ I'd never have guessed that! *ggg* But uncharacterisitc indeed for you to write Jaskier! (I had to google who that is first, too, as I haven't watched it in English yet, and he's called with the German term for larkspur in the German edition.)
