sylvanwitch here: I finished the alibi story with a final 243 words. I think I’ll let it sit a bit and then try to get it to 1K or below. (Right now, it’s over by just a bit.)

Days 23 & 24: Combing through the fanfic and fixing all the its/it's and pronoun errors. This is probably my third pass and I'm still finding them

Days 25, 26 and 27: Research and notes on the main project.

Also, scanning the list it looks like I missed logging a couple of days. I know I only actually missed one day, so add to me to 9, 11, 13, and 22.

Aug 27. A paragraph and a half of translation. Today's are-you-kidding-me phrase was "technological capabilities".

Oh, wooooowwwww! That's SO challenging, but it also sounds like a fun puzzle to unpack? I hope you're enjoying it for all that it's also a kind of labor. GO, you!

For a lot of these things, I'm having to translate them into plain language first. Those words don't exist, but there's still a way at getting at the ideas.

The original sentence: The technological capabilities of Pacific Northwest canoes are unmatched for the region.

chinuk wawa: kənim kʰapa chinuk-wawa-tilixam ukuk skukum pus hayu qʰata nim mamunk -- dret skukum pi kʰanawi iwa pot kʰapa chinuk-wawa-iliʔi.

back-translation: Canoes of chinuk-wawa-speaking people are able to do many kinds of work -- better able than all other boats in the chinuk-wawa-lands.

It's not a perfect translation, but it's a good fit for the context: the rest of the paragraph in the original text is a description of several kinds of canoes, what they were designed for, what they were capable of, and why they could do those jobs better than European boat designs.

Day 27: 383 words of "Turning of the Year." Things have been tense between Monday and Sei, and they're not likely to improve now that Sei has come home drunk and walks to talk right now.
