ysilme here: I'm back at working at the short WIP, rewriting the part already posted as I'm no longer happy with it. About 200ish new words.

sylvanwitch: This past Saturday, we went to a new-to-us park to walk, and today, after a very long day of work, I finally got around to writing up our adventure in my travel journal.

Aug 28th - 956 words. Yet another expanded ficathon fill, and I finished the first draft on my BBTP piece. Needs a read through and probably some detail added, but I'm getting there. Hoping I'll be good to go come posting day.

I am! The story is part of a quick-work-exchange, with the fills not being required to be finished or carefully written - not too dissimilar from 3SF in that regard. The style I wrote in is different from my usual one, and while the published version is well enough, it felt very much first try to me. Now that I'm revisiting the story to finish it, the different style comes much more easily, and the first part just fell into place.
Congrats to your great word count and finishing that draft, go you! :o)

It is fun to try different writing styles. Glad you're finding it easier now. First drafts never need to be perfect.

I usually strive for more work-life balance, but I've taken on more responsibility this year, and that means that there are fiddly bits of work to do that someone else did last year that are now my sole responsibility. Once stuff is done, though, it's functional for the whole school year, at least.
