ysilme here: 45 words on the last chapter of the WIP, plus pondering my bingo card and noting down ideas for possible fills, and seeing which unused older plotbunnies might fit. I'm still surprised how much I'm movitaved by this. ;op

sylvanwitch here: 454 words on a new original flashfic. The idea came to me the other night in the shower, and I made a pretty thorough outline to get the whole thing down. Now, it's just a matter of translating that into effective horror prose. My plan is to bring it in under 1K. So far, so good.

July 18th - 723 words. A drabble, 3 double drabbles, and a tiny bit of editing on a fic for posting.

I'm quite comfortable indoors, but outside is stifling and airless. Definitely a day for staying in. Not that I've achieved much. It's not the weather for it. I'm not overheating, but I still feel drained.

Thanks. Writing was a struggle today. Even though I wasn't over hot indoors, my brain felt like all the cogs were sticking. Coming up with ideas for my Monday drabbles was ridiculously hard.

Got my window open now the sun's set but it's not making much difference.

One more day, then the weather is set to drop nearly 20 degrees.

18 July -- today was a day filled with driving, but I have managed an amnesty sentence, and a great deal of thinking about Story while I was driving. Hopefully I will be able to turn thoughts into words before I forget how they fit together.

Go you, that's a great word count for miserable weather! Good to hear you're comfortable enough inside. I'm still comfortable, too, but that won't keep if the heat continues; once it no longer cools down at night we're going up to 27, 28°C inside, too. We're living in a very well-insulated woodframe house - but it's insulated against cold, so build to keep the warmth inside. The positive side is the walls don't store heat, so once it's cool/breezy at night we get the temperature down quickly enough. But the negative side is that there's also no period of the walls still emitting coldness so the difference to outside isn't as large as it's with the typical brick houses of our region. Again on the plus side living in this house has made us both much less susceptible to heat drain, and we deal with heat and hot nights much better than before. I used to not being able to sleep well over 21°C, and not at all over 25°C. Now I'm not even sweating at 27°C and am still under the coverlet.

Good to hear writing happened, no matter how little of it was written down. I find driving very productive in that regard, too, but mostly can't remember when I've got leisure to write it down, so I'm trying to make a stop and start the recording app on my phone in such cases to catch my thoughts.

It's 38C here right now, and my room is starting to heat up. It's a 1930s brick house so it doesn't hold the heat well, which isn't great in winter, but is helpful in hot weather. I'll probably retreat downstairs in an hour or so. It's cooler down there. I've left the curtains closed for the last 2 days to block the heat out. It's still making my feel lethargic though.

Good grief, that's really extreme, particularly for Britain! *gentle, non-warming hugs*
What really helps is short, lukewarm showers particularly when sweating, and having a nearly wet small towel or dishtowel to lay in your neck, on your head or over your naked feet to cool down, or putting the feet in a basin of lukewarm water. We're getting all kinds of tips all the time, but I found these do really work. Stay safe!

I haven't had a working shower since the pipes burst 12 years ago *sigh* Wet cloths are very helpful though. I'm turning off my computer in a minute to retreat downstairs with a book. It's much cooler down there.

He was very dashing, black and white with a red moustache and red underneath his tail! And it was a very nice hour indeed, except for the mosquito bites. :-D
