sylvanwitch here: Today, I dug out a story that I wrote in 2019. I spent significant time editing it and then submitted it for a themed call to a semi-pro online zine. I'd forgotten the story existed and was pleased to discover that it held up under my more discerning 2023 gaze. It was fun to reclaim it!

Day 27: one alibi page (sigh) on linguistics space opera. On the other hand, I FINALLY completed the slush reader training task (there was a technological snafu that someone else had to sort, etc.), so progress???

Aug 27: Some more rewriting of yesterday's WIP. And I got a story back from beta, so the age-old drill: edits, tags, summary, title (although I'm still not happy with this title).

Editing what I've written so far, which mostly involves re-arranging scenes so they make more sense.

I do this thing when I'm editing where I read out loud and do all the hand gestures and stuff to see if it works. So that's been my evening.

Your process is awesome! I'll have to give it a try when I start my first read-through of the novel. I like the idea of hearing my characters' voices.

sylvanwitch: You have so many stories on the go, I hope one is accepted soon! I don't have WIP:s enough that I can discover a forgotten one, but it sounds fun.

ETA: Oops, and I should also report on my own progress. Day 27: I POSTED the wolfbrothers story! \o/ Also I wrote 300 words of werewolf story; total wordcount 20,000! \o/ o/

Thank you! I've been writing short fiction for several years now, trying to build that platform the writing mags are always going on about, but I'm not always confident about the stories' quality. I think I've reached a stage now where I'm testing my stories like spaghetti--throwing everything against the wall and hoping something sticks! Lol!

Day 27: Still mulling over how the tighten up the ending of the main WIP, a surprise!story idea formed and now I have 3366 words on something completely different.
