Day 17: much meta, more editing. (perhaps I should take a break and switch projects to exchange fic that are due soonish and which I haven't started? probably I will not. xD)
Lol! I think you should do you, my friend, whatever that looks like and/or means. I do wish you luck with the exchange deadlines, but I also know you're very good about making those. YAY!
ysilme: *hugs and a big icy drink* sylvanwitch: That sounds like fantastic progress, yay! *encouraging pompoms*
18th: 1007 words, and I've drafted out all the missing parts but one for my new structure/plan (plus one still needs checking against canon), so in theory I can move forward tomorrow. *fingers crossed this all holds and makes sense*
I probably have about 5-7k to go in the first draft. It would be great if I could speed up a bit and get it done by early next week. (And then I'll run into the problem that it's a very spoilery story, so the person I'd usually turn to for structure/plot advice might not be willing to read it, since she's only watched about a dozen episodes of the show and I think intends to watch more eventually...)
Day 17: another page and a half longhand. I may have written an ending to this scene. I will still need to edit it until it achieves coherency but not only did the conversation reach an appropriate stopping point, one of the characters even left the room! Maybe I can move on! (Also it suggests a way to introduce one of the last main characters who has mostly been off to the side til needed, so that's good, because the original intro to him probably isn't going to work anymore.
On day 16, the outline and worldbuilding notes for the Untitled Superhero Romance were officially moved to my "Preparing for Launch" folder after I did the last few tweaks, and after that I found myself in a limbo. So many short story plot bunnies I can tackle to pass the time until Camp, so little idea which one to start with. Why can't I have infinite time and energy to write all the things? :D
While I'm trying to decide what to focus on for now, Day 17 was all about editing my neglected novel. I actually wrote about 800 words from scratch, replacing a clunky fight sequence with a scene where the adventurers politely talk the necromantic monster into leaving them alone. So I guess that editing day turned into a writing day, after all.
17 June - 225 more words on the thing from yesterday, working title 'Too Hot'. Possibly one more session if they go like these two. I do need to figure out where they are going and why. Right now they are just going, but with unknown purpose.
It's hot here, too! At least for Sweden (27 degrees Celsius in the shade). I wish it wasn't. Anyway, looks like you're both sticking to the writing and making progress!
On the 17th, I have: - edited chapter 23 of the poly fic - done research for the new longfic - written 700 words on the new longfic (2,400 words total).
Yay for writing! Is this a tally for the 17th or the 18th? Some people are going by the date/clock, others by "today is until I go to bed" or so, but I wouldn't know about you. ;o)
Ah, I'm sorry to hear the weather is being inhospitable. We had a good week here, with actual June-like temperatures and conditions (as opposed to what has been passing for June for the past several years--unseasonable heat, etc.). I've been trying to enjoy every day and take none of them for granted because I know that what used to be normal weather is now the exception. *sighs*
That got dark in a hurry.
Let me hasten to add YAY for words! I'm so glad you wrote them. :-)
YAY for words (and a great working title, apropos for at least some of our fellow writers here in the community, judging by comments on the weather) and good luck in finding that destination. :-)
If you discover the secret to infinite time and energy, please do share it with the rest of us, will you? *grins*
LOL! I LOVE your scene description here and am intrigued about the story! I also like the idea of talking the bad guy out of the scene rather than fighting it/him. (That said, I do love to write action sequences, so my mileage may vary. ;-)
I'm sorry the words are being recalcitrant, and I hope you find what you need (be it time, energy, focus, inspiration, etc.) to help you produce more words when you're ready to do so. NO pressure here, just kudos for keeping your hand in! :-)
YAY for so many words and for figuring out where everything goes from here on out! YAY! I hope you're able to find a beta. If it's a canon I'm familiar with, I'd be happy to take a look if you let me know what kind of beta work you require.
Thank you soooo much for the offer! *hearts you to pieces* It's Guardian, and I do actually have a Guardian beta; I'd just like to run it past my usual plot beta first, and I don't know if I can. But I should be good either way (my Guardian beta is also good at plot -- I just like to save her for the character work *g*). <3 <3 <3
This rain and cold, while not fun, is also not unusual for June weather. The hot sunshine we were having is far less common. We usually get the heat in May these days, but this year it was wall to wall rain. *sigh*
It might stay dry today, but I have a challenge fic with a deadline to write, and zero idea of what to do with the prompt, so I'll be wrestling with that.
