ysilme here: 600 new words for me, snowflake and comments. No fic writing yet, but at least I've poked a bit at various parts and did some thinking.

Jan 24: Today's writing is going to need a lot more revision than yesterday's, but it was still four pages longhand, morning commute and lunch hour.

That's excellent! I'm so impressed by your dedication to doing it this way. I hope you're enjoying it, or if enjoy isn't quite the right word, then at least finding satisfaction from it. Yay! :-)

Yes, I am enjoying it! This feels right in my brain, in a way that my other attempts at finding writing time alongside my job haven't. I don't know yet how well it works as a sustainable, integrated process, longhand on workdays and transcription+revision on weekends, but I'm hopeful that I can make this work. Fingers crossed!

I used to love writing long-hand. I feel like it really tapped into a completely different part of my brain than typing does.

Unfortunately for me arthritis, yadda yadda, but it's fantastic that you've got it working for you.

[sanguinity]

The practice is definitely different, longhand: there's not much capacity for revision on the fly, so it's forward, forward, always forward, with maybe some hasty notes about what I'll change later when I come back to it. It's absolutely a different way of thinking about what the story needs and what I should be doing with the time I spend on it.

So far the arthritis has been manageable, but I've got a brace that should help if I need it. It also probably helps that my longhand time is limited -- my commute and lunch are only so many minutes long. Fingers crossed that this is sustainable!

I was going to skip check-in today and say I hadn't done anything when I remembered I wrote myself an e-mail full of notes in the middle of the afternoon at work after a eureka moment. Does it count as paid writing when I'm writing on someone else's clock? :P

I did 20 minutes of timed freewriting, which was nice. In the evening I worked some on the ambush project, adding a few paragraphs. :-)

That's awesome! I love that idea. One of the things I feel very fortunate about as a teacher and writer is that in my extracurricular club, we do regular writing exercises, and I always do them with the students. I wouldn't ordinarily do that sort of thing on my own, but because it's part of the club activity, I feel compelled. And I always enjoy it and sometimes even get something usable out of it, so I'm happy for you that you enjoyed your freewriting! Yay!

Day 24: not much time to write today, so started edits on the last chapter of my draft, adding 192 words, and wrote 111 words on my other WIP.

Day 24 - 1177 words, double and triple drabbles and a bit of editing. It was a bitty day and I didn't get to work on the challenge I'd intended to wrire for so I'll have to do that today. At least now I have an idea for it, which helps...

Despite a day that required being on a lot more than usual, I finished a draft for a prompt that I am not entirely sure does all the things I want it to, but at the same time, I'm reasonably pleased with it.
