I put in 154 words on my first marvel trumps hate fic, starting the second scene in this chapter. (and on that note, i figured out what this second scene is going to be, which is good because this chapter didn't exist 3 days ago, so things are coming along. *jazz hands*)
ysilme: Oh, nice! Fun writing projects can be a very necessary break, I think.
sylvanwitch: I marvel that you can start out talking about "limited energy" and go on to claim 862 words for the day. I know it was a new and fun thing with no strings or expectations, but I am nevertheless impressed.
Day 22: 500 words of Fake Married, in which there is bedsharing, cuddling, and someone deciding that he's going to be a GOOD fake husband from here on out, not a bad one.
You're too kind! Thank you! It was definitely one of those deals in which I just sort of sat down and wrote a scene that came to me, and because it was something I always enjoy writing, it flowed. (I credit what energy I had left, at least in part, to the fact that I'm on summer break. Time moves differently when I don't have to get up at 6:00am every weekday.)
Woooo-hoooo! I am SO loving the description of Fake Married and cannot WAIT to read it. It sounds like the perfect summer read! (I hope that's not presumptuous--obviously, I'd be equally happy to read it in fall or the depth of winter. NO pressure. :-)
I'm at 20K, and almost certainly have at least 15K to go, so... Maybe not this summer? But I sincerely hope by fall. We'll see. All I can do is keep plugging away at it.
But I do hope you enjoy it, whenever it gets finished. :-)
Day 22: Typed up yesterday's stuff, carried on typing for a couple of sentences (partially because I stopped mid-sentence last night for Reasons) and then caught myself, picked up a pen and carried on for another page longhand. I might have grown more speaking characters. If this thing ever finishes it's going to be approximately 3 million words and a cast of hundreds at this rate. Most of these people are spear carriers, why are they talking? *sigh* (The answer is because my first instinct is to write dialogue and possibly this will be a fixed-in-editing issue. Otoh I probably do at least need more staff in the library than the two people we've seen most often so far. Dear brain do not make me write an org chart for the Scribes..)
*grins* I LOVE the idea of an org. chart! Sometimes I use that sort of "bureaucracy" as a stalling tactic, but also sometimes, I find I'm partway through a long work and realize I really do need an organizational chart (or at least hand-jotted notes to remember relationships). Anyway, YAY for writing and YAY for dialogue, even if the folks doing the talking aren't supposed to be!
Man, I hear you on finding the right venues. I have a subscription to Duotrope, and I do find it useful, but it's not the final word on available markets, so there is a lot of scrounging around and lurking on Twitter, etc.
That's fantastic as a word count and also as a number!
Sounds like you guys both had nice writing days! Congrats. :)
I finally found and scheduled some movers that won't cost an arm and a leg (or, at least, not both ... maybe one or the other) so I'm satisfied with that for today. I also wrote a version of the Christmas movie logline from yesterday that isn't set at Christmas, which I think I like better, but who knows if I will actually write it. I'm not expecting much from the rest of this week writing-wise ... I'm finally moving in on Saturday which is great but I still have several things to do. Including calling tomorrow morning again about the lease ...
Wow, you're moving so soon?!? That's hectic! I wish you as stress-free a move as it's possible to have. YAY for finding movers who won't take ALL of your limbs! :-)
Thanks to the newest heat wave, all I managed on day 22 were 2 sentences. After that, I had to admit defeat and go hide in the basement with a bucket of ice cream.
Day 22: I hid from the silly essay and worked possibly too long on compiling a thing from component parts (bits of journal entries and notes) that I'm not sure I'm going to continue, but oh well! It was a lot of words but not many new ones.
Ysilme: Great word count! Sometimes "less pressure and more fun" is the way to go.
Sylvanwitch: Also great word count! I'm smiling at the yoking of "atmospheric" with "action." Intriguing... 8-)
A lot of my writing can be described as "some assembly required" these days, so I appreciate the Frankenstein approach to writing that you've got here. YAY for words of any number and kind! :-)
As for the atmospheric action, I found myself unexpectedly writing a weird western, which is...not my usual genre, though I have read a few I like. In this case, I think I'm being influenced by Charlaine Harris' Gunnie Rose series, which I've just finished reading. This one (mine, that is) has aliens, though...as far as I know, that's not the direction she's going with hers.
Day 22 had progress on my primary story as I successfully wrote my way out of a corner again and proceeded to the next scene before I could trap myself again.
