ysilme here: food was cooked and eaten, a good time was had, and words have been written in-between, too; about 60 so far but I'm still at it.

sylvanwitch here: SO MUCH FOOD! It's been a mostly excellent Christmas hereabouts, and if I'm digesting like a constrictor, which is to say verrrrry slooooowly, that's okay. I did my writing early in the day, since we had a visit to make and then cooking. 958 words added, things are moving at a good clip. The plan is to make the final push between now and the end of the year. I think that adds up to three or possibly four chapters. Lotta words. Used to be an 8-10K day wasn't unusual for me. Maybe I've still got it in me? Might be fun to find out!

It wasn't a bad day. Still cold, but... *shrugs* Sometimes you just have to make the best of a bad situation.

Today was for reading yuletide, and commenting on yuletide, mostly. :) Also telling a discord server about the fic idea that I'd noodled around while falling asleep last night that is slightly over-ambitious in scale for me to want to write right now. Somewhere in all that, I think, is writing.

I don't know if you're like me, but my most overly ambitious projects typically show up when I am least inclined and/or capable of writing them and then more or less strong-arm me into writing them anyway. ;-)

Less an outright block and more a fiddly bit? Two-to-three sentences referring to backstory that didn't exist yet, which were intended one way by the letter-writer and yet would legitimately read another way by the recipient, and which will fuel the next couple-thousand words of action. I'd been having trouble getting something I was happy with, but in the lull between her Christmas goose and my Christmas lasagna, I sat down with my troublemaker-in-chief and we tossed some ideas back and forth until we got it to work. (Hurrah, everyone should have a troublemaker-in-chief!)


Happy Christmas! Boa constrictors with full tummies always struck me as exceedingly happy creatures; I hope you're feeling that same contented joy. :-) And ooooooo, a big word day coming up! Write, write like the wind! *\o/*

Day 25: Two pages longhand, finally.

One of my Xmas presents was (by request) a refill cartridge for my favourite ballpoint pen. It died in... April or May and it always seemed like such a silly little thing to pay for shipping for but also too minor to go to an actual shop for (especially as I don't drive so "curbside" is not quite the safe option it is for those in a car). My backup pen died in the middle of writing out my holiday cards and although I've had something it mind to write for about three days I just... the pens were all too light to write with.

I don't think it's silly at all, and I can definitely understand how having the right weight in your hand makes a difference. I'm so glad you've got that refill and are back to writing. YAY! for longhand pages and refilled pens! :-)

Writing, since it seems I've gone another week without checking in: please add me for days 18-25! There were some days of adding to my novel, including one day when I wrote over 1,000 words in one day which I was very pleased about; and then there's been editing my Yuletide fic and adding to it a little bit. I also ended up writing a short treat for Yuletide Madness yesterday. I'm very pleased with my Yuletide performance, especially since before this the last time I finished and posted a fic was early March... so by the 2020 reckoning that would be at least 5 years ago? :-P But anyway, now I've got two new ones out in the world, even if I can't say yet that they're mine. :-)

27th: I finished and posted the Madness treat just in time for the deadline. Today I've writen 738 very rough words on a gift fic. I haven't slept well for a couple of nights, and my brain is the opposite of sparky, so I'm stopping there. :-)
